Master all MarkPDF features from scratch
Welcome to MarkPDF! This tutorial will help you quickly get started with this professional Markdown to PDF tool. Whether you're new to Markdown or an experienced document writer, you'll find useful information here.
Step 1: Understanding the Interface
After opening the converter page, you'll see a clear two-column layout. The left side is the Markdown editor where you input and edit content; the right side is the real-time preview area showing rendered results. The top has a settings panel for adjusting fonts, paper size, and other options. The bottom contains action buttons including convert and download functions.
Step 2: Entering Markdown Content
In the left editor, you can directly type Markdown formatted text. If you have existing Markdown documents, you can copy and paste them. The editor supports syntax highlighting to help you see the document structure more clearly. If you're unfamiliar with Markdown syntax, click the 'Load Example' button to see templates.
Step 3: Real-time Preview
This is MarkPDF's signature feature! As you edit content, the right preview area updates automatically after you stop typing for 300ms. You can also click the refresh button to manually update the preview anytime. This lets you focus on writing while seeing results in real-time.
Step 4: Choosing the Right Font
In the settings panel, you can select different fonts. For Chinese content, 'Noto Sans Simplified Chinese' or 'Source Han Sans' is recommended; for Traditional Chinese, choose 'Noto Sans Traditional Chinese'; for Japanese, use 'Noto Sans Japanese'. Correct font selection ensures perfect document display without garbled characters.
Step 5: Adjusting Page Settings
Besides fonts, you can adjust other page settings. Paper size supports A4, Letter, A5, and other common sizes; margins can be set to none, small, normal, or large depending on your layout needs. Font size is also adjustable, with 14-16px generally suitable for body text.
Step 6: Generating and Downloading PDF
When satisfied with the preview, click the 'Download PDF' button. The system will generate the PDF file in your browser and automatically start the download. The process usually takes just a few seconds. The generated PDF can be printed, shared, or archived directly.
Step 7: Advanced Tips
After mastering the basics, explore more advanced features: use tables to organize data, insert code blocks to display program code, use blockquotes to highlight key content. Check our 'Syntax Guide' for complete Markdown syntax support.
